Gregory County 4-H held a string art workshop

Gregory County 4-H held a string art workshop on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Burke Civic Center. There were two different sessions. The first session was held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and it was for ages five to nine-year-olds. The second session was held from 1 - 3 p.m., and was for ages 10 to 18 years old. At this workshop the youth hammered nails into a board into the shape of whatever they wanted to make, then they used string to wrap around the nails to fill in their design.

Cautiously optimistic: South Dakota’s finances and the future

Earlier this week, the State of South Dakota closed the financial books for fiscal year 2022 with a record-breaking $115.5 million surplus. This historic surplus was a combination of revenues unexpectedly being $72.3 million above what was adopted by the Legislature this past session, and the general fund budget for state government operations having expenses $43.2 million less than budgeted.

Dear Editor, My complaint is about people who drive through city alleys and turn their dogs out, letting them run on other people’s properties and eat pet food that’s out for their own pets. Either fence them in or leash them.
