Missouri Valley Mutual Insurance Company of Burke, SD, will hold their 108th Annual Policy-holders Meeting on March 15, 2022, at 1:15 p.m. at the Civic Center in Burke, SD. How many women does it take to clean one freezer?! The women, pictured clockwise from the top, Sandy Smith, Darlene Shattuck, Janice Grenoble, Cheryln Shaffer, Cindy Diekman, Sandy Jones, and Sally Shaffer, were part of the crew that helped clean out the old and move in the new kitchen equipment at the American Legion. Not pictured are the men who helped: Dick Shaffer, Ron Shattuck, Greg Smith, Bob Fenenga, Gerald Gergan, Joe Klein, Harold Winter, and Ed Eagle Star.

Gregory’s second graders celebrate 2-22-22

The second grade class at Gregory Elementary enjoyed 2-22-22. With no school on “Twosday,” grade 2 celebrated on Thursday. They completed centers revolving around the number 2. Students practiced homophones, double consonants, and compound words. In math, they added double digits and solved 2 step problems. In writing, they enjoyed imagining what their lives would be like in 22 years. The teachers for the second grade classes are Jacqueline Bartling and Britany Reber.

This past Wednesday, the South Dakota Legislature hit one of its biggest milestones of the legislative session: Crossover Day. Those who follow the Capitol calendar know that bills must successfully pass out of the chamber where they began on Crossover Day.

The article about Alec Dostal in the 02/23/22 edition of the Gregory Times-Advocate stated that he had been indicted on only four charges. It should have stated that he had been indicted on all of the following eight charges: Count 1: manslaughter in the first degree - dangerous weapon; Count 2: vehicular homicide; Count 3: driving under the influence - .08 or more; Count 4: driving under the influence; Count 5: threatening law enforcement officer or family; Count 6: possession of loaded firearm while intoxicated; Count 7: driving while revoked; and Count 8: speeding.
