The Gregory American Legion hosted an essay contest recently for the Gregory sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. The title was “How Can We Support Families Who Provide Care to Their Veterans?” eighth grade winners were: Danielle Timanus, not pictured (1st), and Asia VanDerWerff, left (2nd), and Aubree Miller, right (3rd) Gregory seventh grade winners of the contest were: Landon Keiser (1st), Emily Stevicks (2nd), and Kamre Peabody (3rd).

Homeowners have until March 15 to apply for property tax relief through the owner-occupied program. Any South Dakotan who owned and occupied a home on November 1, 2021, is eligible for this classification and its property tax reduction.

The Sons of the American Legion will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 17, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.

The Winner Regional Health and Wellness Foundation recently announced the receipt of the most gracious gift of $25,000.00 from the Stanley-Jones Trust. Steve Hayes, a board member for the Stanley-Jones Trust, provided the funds to the foundation this past week. The funds were received as part of the Driven to Serve Campaign, which is directed towards the purchase of a 3D mammography machine.

They say hindsight is 20-20. Looking back at the year 2020 in hindsight, we now can say that South Dakota consistently made the right decisions during the pandemic.
