GHS cheer and dance team finishes season strong at state competition

The Gregory competitive cheer and dance team finished their season with strong performances in all three routines on Friday, October 22, 2021, night at the state cheer and dance meet held at Brandon Valley High School.

Hansen receive Extra Yard award from the Gregory School District

Gregory’s Athletic Director Kurt Stukel, right, presented John Hansen, left, staff member of the Gregory School District, the Extra Yard award for going the Extra Yard for our students and athletes at the Gregory School District. On Friday, October 15, 2021, John Hansen was honored for his lifetime of dedication to the Gregory school. John started his teaching and coaching career in Gregory in the fall of 1974. During his tenure as GHS, John was an assistant football coach for 13 years, a middle school football coach for 27 years, and the high school wrestling coach for the past 47 years. With the cooperation of the Extra Yard for Teachers program, Coach Hansen was presented a specially designed football, t-shirt, and gift card in appreciation for his many years of service.

Bobbie Carter of Burke VFW Post 9950 presented gift baskets to David Wonnenberg, left, and Robert Tiegen, right, in observance of “Make a Difference Day.” The baskets were an expression of appreciation for their service to the two vets who are shut-ins.

Journey Construction gives update on Avera’s new facility

If you’ve driven past the site of the new hospital facility in Gregory, you have seen walls being erected and the new building starting to take shape. In August the earthwork and underground utility contractor completed the site water and sanitary utilities, the concrete contractor mobilized equipment and material and began footings, and electrical and plumbing contractors were on site to begin underground rough-ins.
