COVID numbers on the rise in South Dakota

During the past calendar week, July 25-31, 52 new cases of COVID per day were reported to the South Dakota Department of Health. This is an increase of 68% from the 31 cases per day reported during the previous week.

Pool fund continues to grow

South Dakota’s Sturgis rally roars back as delta rising

The Black Hills of South Dakota roared with motorcycles and crowds Friday, August 5, as the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicked off, with mostly mask-less rallygoers packed shoulder-to-shoulder at bars and rock shows, despite a rise in COVID-19 cases in the state.

4-H challenges youth to junk drawer robotics

Gregory County youth were able to put their engineering brains to work, and get creative during the junk drawer robotics. During this session, youth worked with a partner to design a marshmallow launcher using a random assortment of supplies. While designing and testing their catapult, 4.2x2 participants made adjustments to improve the distance and accuracy. The next challenge for participants was to use supplies including a cup, battery, motors and additional random supplies to choose from and build a robot to draw on paper with. All of the participants successfully completed both challenges, and enjoyed meeting other peers.

Sons of American Legion to hold meeting

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, August 19th, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.
