School year to begin in South Dakota with teacher shortage

Education leaders in South Dakota say that as the new school year approaches the state doesn’t have enough teachers and support staff, a situation they attribute to the coronavirus pandemic. State Education Secretary Tiffany Sanderson says every school district in South Dakota is dealing with staffing shortages for the upcoming school year.

Official: First few days of rally among the busiest in years

Law enforcement officials say the first few days of this year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally have been among the busiest they’ve seen. Some 700,000 people were expected to celebrate their enthusiasm for motorcycles at the 10-day event which kicked off Friday, August 6.

Storm ekes out four hits, not enough to best Plankinton Bankers

Pony Hills South Central Storm out-hit the Plankinton Bankers four to three, but it wasn’t enough in a 5-2 loss in the league championship game on Thursday, July 29. The Bankers got things started in the second inning when Josh Engquist singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
