GHS music students show off their talents Monday night

On Monday evening the Gregory Music students held a dinner and a show for their ticket holders. There were twenty-two selections consisting of solos, duets, vocal groups and a saxophone quintet. The two Eli’s entertained the audience with Metallica’s “Anesthesia” and a percussion ensemble shook the house with “Thunder On The Bay.” The featured guest was Dr. Grant Manhart - Northern State University trumpet professor.

ATF certifies SD concealed carry permit as valid alternative to NICS background check

South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg announced last week that the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has certified that South Dakota’s regular Concealed Carry Permits qualify as an alternative to a background check conducted by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

Lawmakers fear turning 144 cities into “micropolitan” areas

A bipartisan group of U.S. senators and congressmen is urging the federal government not to approve recommendations to remove 144 cities from the designation of metropolitan statistical areas. Reclassifying them as “micropolitan’’ would put key federal funding at risk, they said.

States sue Biden in bid to revive Keystone XL pipeline

Attorneys general from 21 states on Wednesday, March 17, sued to to overturn President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the contentious Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada. Led by Ken Paxton of Texas and Austin Knudsen of Montana, the states said Biden had overstepped his authority when he revoked the permit for the Keystone pipeline on his first day in office.
