Dear Friends of Life, We have a very important job to do on November 5th. There is an Amendment G on our ballots that will take away all the hard work you have done to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Please show diligence in finding out all you can about this Amendment. In this week’s paper there is an ad giving you all the information you will need to understand what this Amendment will do if it passes. If it passes, it will be written into our Constitution. South Dakota State University Extension will host its Managing Soil: Maximizing Profit conference for crop producers and industry professionals in Wagner, followed by the Southeast Research Farm annual meeting.

Report to the FSA office your fall planted crops before the applicable deadline Nov. 15th, after planting is complete.

Since South Dakota began participating in National Prescription Take-Back Day in 2016, over 95,000 pounds of unused medication has been collected through participating law enforcement locations and the Department of Social Services’ Safe Disposal Program. South Dakota’s bi-annual effort is a partnership with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy.

The arrival of cattle from Texas to the Whetstone Agency was always of great interest to those Indians who were located at the mouth of Whetstone Creek and the surrounding area. The cattle were kept at the agency and released to the Natives as needed by Captain Poole, the Indian Agent assigned to the Whetstone Agency.

The American Legion Hutchison Post in Gregory is planning an event to raise some funds for a new roof. On Monday, November 4, the Legion will be the place for some good soup, pie, and football rivalry.
