2024 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally generates $1.4 million in tax revenue

The South Dakota Department of Revenue estimates tax collections from the 2024 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally were $1,399,501. Taxes collected included state sales tax, tourism tax, municipal sales tax, and municipal gross receipts tax.

SS administration announces new efforts to simplify SSI applications

Recently, the Social Security Administration announced a large step in a multi-year effort to simplify processes for people who are applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) by starting to offer an online, streamlined application for some applicants starting in December. SSI provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults who have little or no income and resources.

Each year, we celebrate the South Dakota State Fair in the days leading up to Labor Day. Things kick off Wednesday and wrap up Monday. I love the State Fair for so many reasons. I always head for the pork sandwiches and ice cream. The bull riding and concerts are excellent, and we have plenty of celebrations!

West River Massage now located in Gregory

Taylor Jacot (pronounced jay COT) has moved her massage practice, West River Massage, to Gregory. Her new location is next to Brain, Nerve & Spine in what many will remember as the Wild West Room, at 114 E. 6th Street.
