Following the indictments of South Dakota cattle ranchers Charles and Heather Maude, RCALF USA has urged the Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Justice to immediately drop all charges against the couple, encouraging a common-sense solution.

The Burke Bombers faced a very tough Larchwood, IA, team in the first round of the 2024 Amateur Baseball Association’s State B Tournament on Wednesday, August 7, at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, and lost 18-3.

Gregory County 4-H held the 2024 Achievement Days at the Burke Rodeo Arena and the Burke Civic Center from Sunday, August 4 - Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Display exhibits were judged on Sunday and available for viewing throughout the duration of Achievement Days. Monday August 5, 2024, kicked off with companion animals (featuring guinea pigs), rabbits, and the poultry show. With over 60 entries in the poultry area, we had an excellent showcase of various breeds. BankWest sponsored and served watermelon before moving into our afternoon shows of meat goats and dairy goats. The evening concluded with the Burke Community Club sponsoring and serving the community meal including pancakes and sausage, cooked by the Burke Fire Department.

South Dakota State University Extension will return to Dakotafest in 2024 with educational displays and on-site experts showcasing more than 10 topics. Dakotafest is from 9 a.m.
