Bats were blistered as Gregory Teeners 16U beat Kimball/White Lake on Monday, July 24, in the Region 2 VFW baseball tournament in Gregory. Both teams collected seven hits. Gregory came back to win despite trailing 9-5 in the fifth.

Gregory might not have a swim team, but that hasn’t stopped five girls from competing in the pool. Hadley Braun, Sutton Braun, Averie Stukel, Mya Warnke, and Brenlee Braun have joined the Platte swimmers for the second summer to participate in swim meets.

Approximately 240 elementary and middle school educators began a week-long trek today, to explore the people, places, and events that figure prominently in South Dakota history. One group of teachers departed Sioux Falls for an East River history tour, while another left Rapid City for a West River tour.

Some late-night revelers on Saturday trashed an area of Burke Lake by the wheelchair accessible walk-out fishing dock. Beer cans, broken alcohol and liquor bottles, and other garbage, including a pair of shorts and a sock, lay strewn throughout the grass and on the pavement, in spite of having a garbage can conveniently located nearby. The middle of the road also shows a large burn mark where a bonfire had been lit.
