A group of South Dakota lawmakers has begun circulating a petition in hopes of forcing a special session to protect private property rights against the developers of a proposed carbon dioxide pipeline.

A sheriff`s office in South Dakota is urging residents to keep an eye out for mountain lions after one was seen lurking near a golf course. The Miner County Sheriff`s Office said in a Facebook post Saturday that the animal was seen on the edge of the town of Howard, a community of about 850 people on the eastern side of the state.

The South Dakota FFA Association conducted its annual Leadership Retreat July 12 - 15 at Storm Mountain Christian Camp in Rapid City, SD. A total of 122 FFA members in grades 7 – 12 attended from across South Dakota with the following theme, “Into the Safari: Imagine, Explore, Discover.”
