Humans have always wanted to be happy. It’s the reason and purpose that people live. Why do we work and make money? Because according to our natural instincts, spending money and buying the things we desire is supposed to make us happy. Why do I use the word ‘supposed’? Well, we might imagine and hope that certain things can make us happy, but the sobering truth is that they usually do not.

Winner Community to host 54th Annual Rodeo to Benefit Children’s Services at LifeScape

The Winner Elks Rodeo will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 21-23. Bareback riding, saddle bronc, tie-down roping, barrel racing, ranch bronc riding, and of course— bull riding! Not only that, but the Winner Elks Rodeo has bull soccer each night, Friday, July 21st, through Sunday, July 23rd, at their 54th annual fundraiser for LifeScape Children’s Outreach Services.

Dallas Cares awards annual scholarship

Dallas Cares announced the winner of its annual scholarship. Senior students submitted one-page essays on the value of volunteering. Three boys and seven girls submitted applications. It was inspirational to read all of the essays and learn how our local seniors volunteer.

The “Territory of Dakota,” with the exception of a portion of the northeast corner, was a part of “The Louisiana Territory” which was acquired from France in 1803. The path to acquiring that property was one that had many twists and turns which the politicians on all sides did not expect.
