Christian Spann will be the keynote speaker at the eighth grade graduation, to be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, at Gregory Memorial Auditorium. Christian is the oldest child of Jim and Carolyn Spann and has two younger sisters, Jordan and Shelby.

Representatives from Missouri River Energy Services and MidAmerican Energy Company recently invited landowners who would be affected by a joint pumped storage project of the two entities to meet with them providing the landowners with an overview of the proposed project and giving them an opportunity to ask questions and offer input. Two meetings were held on Tuesday, April 19, in the community room at the Burke Civic Center, at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.

Shirley Beck was 19 when she became a mother. A longer gap followed Ken, before Patricia, Brad, and Bev, born close together, and Doug brought an end to Shirley’s childbearing. No twins. Possibly one miscarriage. All nine were born in the hospital. She adamantly denies that she had any favorites, but her children laugh at that claim.

The Gregory High School golf team competed locally on Friday, April 22. The girls team played at the Burke Golf Course.
