Dear Editor: After reading J.L.’s “Canadian Perspective” in the January 26, 2022, Gregory Times-Advocate concerning his take on school shootings, I am reminded of what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ told the lawyers of His day - the Pharisees, in Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 23, verse 24: “Blind guides who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel.” As J.L. noted, there were 28 mass school shootings in the U.S.

After six face-offs between 1861 and 1890, each becoming more intense and costly, one might come to the conclusion that the location of the capital was settled once and for all in 1890. Nothing could be further from the truth! With 45% of the voters opposing Pierre as the capital, voters should have expected that the issue had not definitely been settled.
