Cracker barrel was held in Burke

District legislators held a cracker barrel over the weekend and traveled to Wagner, Platte, Burke, and Winner on Saturday, February 5th, to meet with constituents and update them on how the session is going. Erin Tobin, Caleb Finck, Rocky Blare, and Marty Overweg were in attendance. Due to the redistricting this year, Caleb Finck will move out of District 21 and Marty Overweg from New Holland will run in District 21.

School board gives green light to remodel/addition

The regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education was held at 5:30 p.m., Monday, February 14, 2022, in the high school conference room. Third graders consider habitat adaptations For the Gorilla Good News portion of the meeting, three students, Emmett Shaffer, Mackenzie Anderson, and Harper Rudy, from third grade science teacher Sarah Hatle’s class presented their posters depicting how an animal would have to adapt if moved from its natural habitat to a completely different one.

Rescues Unlimited heads into their 21 st year

Rescues Unlimited has been saving abandoned, abused, neglected, and lost animals in Gregory and the surrounding communities for about 21 years. In those years, they have rescued almost 10,000 animals, restoring them to good health, and finding forever homes for them across several states. Their efforts have connected loving pets with forever homes and helped rid the reservations of the packs of wild dogs that used to run free, attacking pets and people alike.

February is National CTE Month

Every February, different organizations and groups involved in Career and Technical Education (CTE) celebrate CTE month to raise awareness of the role that CTE has in preparing students for college and career success. The Burke and Gregory High Schools are fortunate to have a number of CTE classes available, which will be highlighted this week and next.

Gorillas claim victory over Warriors, drop to MVP and Parkston

Gregory 69 Winner 60 The Gregory Gorillas started a busy week on Monday, January 31, with a 69-60 victory over the #3 ranked Winner Warriors. The Gorillas trailed 14-10 after one quarter, but took the lead midway through the 2nd quarter and held on the rest of the way.
