It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... or at least it was on Friday, as the first named winter storm of the season, Atticus, blanketed the area with 11.5 inches of snow. This week’s warm temperatures in the mid to upper 40s should leave little of the white stuff behind. The next chance of precipitation is Wednesday, with a 60% chance of rain changing to snow and accumulations around an inch. Temperatures will drop as that system moves through, so any snow that falls will likely remain for awhile.

International students spend year at Gregory High School

Gregory High School has three foreign exchange students for the 2021-22 school year: Amalie Sofie Lindeholm and Kristine Maegelvang, both from Denmark, and Ana Gomez from Spain. Amalie Sofie Lindeholm, or just “Sofie” for those who have trouble pronouncing her first name, is from 20 miles outside the country’s capital city of Copenhagen.

Four local cowboys participate in Junior World Finals in Vegas

The Junior World Finals (JWF) hosted approximately 100 rough stock contestants at the Wrangler Rodeo Arena at the Las Vegas Convention Center December 2-6. During the grand entry each day, David Biggins, son of Jessy and Katie Biggins of Gregory, Ryggan Lambley, son of Chisum and Kaira Lambley of Burke, and Taos Weborg, son of Tony and Meg Weborg of Saint Charles, had the opportunity to represent our state, carrying the South Dakota flag.
