Elderly and disabled tax refund accepts applications

AARP South Dakota is encouraging eligible seniors and disabled individuals to apply for an annual refund of their sales or property tax before July 1, 2021. “Property taxes are one of the most burdensome taxes for South Dakota homeowners living on a fixed income,” said Erik Gaikowski, AARP South Dakota State Director.

Gregory Foundation accepting grant fund applications

The Gregory Community Foundation is once again accepting applications for grants to fund community projects. Application will be accepted now until June 1st. An application must be accompanied with a newly revised application form that can be picked up at First Fidelity Bank, printed from the Foundation Facebook page or by request to kybs22@yahoo. com. Completed forms may be dropped off at First Fidelity Bank, mailed to Gregory Foundation, 1607 Logan Ave., Gregory or emailed to kybs22@yahoo. com.

Stronger families together

In South Dakota, we help our neighbors. It’s just part of who we are. My parents instilled that in me at a very young age. We’d check on families in our community who were struggling. In fact, when I was a little girl, my parents brought a foster boy into our family.
