A Note From Cottonwood Corners

With the construction of the six Corp of Engineers dams on the upper Missouri River, there were what some referred to as “nonmonetary costs.” These were social in nature, long-term, and some quite unforeseen. With four of the six dams in the state, the burden for the citizens of South Dakota was astronomical.

30x30 program draws large crowd

A crowd of about 120 citizens showed up at the Burke Civic Center on Sunday evening, May 2, to learn about President Biden’s executive order 14008, “Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad” also known as the “30x30 Plan.”

Amish family is first of several that plan to relocate to the area

By now many of you have spotted the horse and buggy on the highway or around town that belongs to the Amish family that has moved to the area. Chris Burkeholder, the father of the family, had just crossed the river when he stopped at Joe and Lynne Duling’s place and commented on how beautiful the area is.

Gregory boys golf team takes second place at Platte

The Gregory Gorilla boys golf team had a strong showing at the Platte-Geddes meet on Friday, May 7, turning in a second place finish in a field of 12 teams with a total of 246. Platte-Geddes captured first place at their home meet with 239 points; Ethan finished in third with 255; Bon Homme totaled 95 points for fourth place; and Kimball/White Lake rounded out the top five with 266.
