Gardening workshop plants seeds for success

Youth gardeners dug into handson learning during Gardening Part 1 on Thursday, May 28, with instructors Tom and Peg Glover. Par-ticipants toured the garden, learned planting techniques, and planted tomatoes, potatoes, beans, melons, peppers, and onions. Each child had the opportunity to take home seeds and plants to continue gardening at home and wrapped up the day by enjoying homemade jerky.

At the time of this article, there are 25 cases of New World Screwworm in the United States, 24 cases are in central and southwest Texas and 1 case was detected in a dog in southeast New Mexico. The cases involve cattle, goats, sheep, and a dog.

Kenzy announced as winner of Fed Cattle Challenge

Tyler Kenzy was announced as the winner of the South Dakota Cattleman’s Association’s Fed Cattle Challenge at their Prime Time Gala on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Sioux Falls. Tyler represented Gregory County FFA in the team division.
