School staff subjected to pie in the face for a cause

This week’s Gorilla Gathering at the Gregory School District was more rowdy than usual, and for good reason On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the students at the school held a hat and pajama day to raise money for Suzanne Braun and family. The amount raised was revealed at Gorilla Gathering on Tuesday morning, October 14. But this was more than just a reveal; for each $1,000 raised, a student had the pleasure of “pie-ing” a staff member or teacher. For the first $1,000, Principal Jeff Determan was the recipient of the pie in the face. As the top fundraiser in the elementary, second grader Claire Jacobsen had the honor. Superintendent Sara Anderson was the willing victim for the second $1,000 raised. Third grader Emery Shoemaker was the lucky second place fundraiser who earned the job of applying the pie. And Sophomore Marissa Fischer had the distinction of pie-ing Mrs. Graber for the third $1,000 earned by the students.
Klein receives years of service award

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Avera Gregory Hospital Monte Carlo Casino Night, Lynn Klein, a fixture at Gregory Hospital for over four decades, was celebrated by her work family and the hospital administration, receiving the esteemed Gregory Avera Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes her unwavering dedication and service that has inspired countless colleagues throughout her career. Ultimately serving as the Manager of Environmental Services, this department is often called the backbone of a safe and clean hospital, and Lynn’s dedication ensured the facility maintained the highest standards. Her colleagues describe her as a passionate, tireless leader whose service has left an indelible mark on the hospital's culture.
Spikers fall in nail-biter to Lady Panthers

The Gregory Lady Spikers battled hard in a thrilling matchup against the Platte-Geddes Lady Panthers but came up just short in a nail-biter on Thursday night, October 9, 2025. The energy and determination on the court were undeniable as both teams fought point for point throughout the evening.
Schenefeld runs 100 miles to compete the Cowboy 100

Melissa Schenefeld has accomplished something that few, but a rapidly growing number of, people have done. Over the weekend of September 27-28, 2025, she ran 100 miles in the Cowboy 100 through Nebraska.
Gregory, Burke communities display hometown generosity

The Gregory and Burke communities have been hard at work fundraising for the family of Beau and JeanAnn Bryan whose two boys, Wesley and Sawyer, are battling the life-threatening disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Gregory students and staff step up in big way for Bryan boys

Hats, pajamas, a shaved head, and a shaved beard—these seemingly unrelated items all combined recently at the Gregory School District, resulting in $3,720.73 raised for Wesley and Sawyer Bryan in their fight against their fatal disease.
