Local student selected to University of Minnesota Twin Cities dean’s list

Samantha Timanus of Gregory, SD, a freshman at the College of Science and Engineering, has been named to the 2022 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average..

Burke Riding Club to host Burke Jr. Rodeo

The Burke Riding Club will be sponsoring the Burke Jr. Rodeo at the Stampede Rodeo Grounds in Burke, SD, on August 13, 2022. Start time is 9:30 a.m. and will include events for youth ages 14 and under.

Hair Styling workshop held

Gregory County 4-H held a hair styling workshop on Tuesday, August 2, at the Burke Civic Center from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The youth all came with a parent so the parents could practice doing the different hair styles on their daughters. At this workshop, everyone learned a few tips and tricks on how to properly care for your hair and how to perform different hair styles.

4-H holds T-Shirt Design workshop

Gregory County 4-H held a T-shirt design workshop on Thursday, August 4, in Gregory at the 4-H building. There were two sessions. The first session was from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the second session was from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The youth learned about many different ways you can tie-die a T-shirt and then got to tie-die their own T-shirts. The youth all did a great job!

The Gregory County Veterans Service Office will be Closed on Monday, August 15th, as Veterans Service Officer Dale Reber attends the South Dakota Veterans Benefit School in Pierre put on by the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs.
