The Gregory cross country team kicked off their season at the Mitchell Invite on Saturday, August 28th. In the girls varsity, Emma Thomas crossed the finish line in 4th place with a time of 17:29.2.

South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg pleaded no contest Thursday, August 26, to a pair of misdemeanor traffic charges over a crash last year that killed a pedestrian, avoiding jail time despite bitter complaints from the victim’s family that he was being too lightly punished for actions they called “inexcusable.’’

The former rectory for St. John’s Catholic Church in Herrick turns 100 years old this year, and Marty Watson, owner, has planned an open house to celebrate, from 2:00- 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 5.

The seventh cohort of Build Dakota Scholarship Fund students will begin classes this month, helping to fill the gap of essential workforce needs for South Dakota. In January 2021, Governor Kristi Noem announced an additional $20 million in continued support of the Build Dakota Scholarship Fund, securing funding for the program for another five years.

Joan Grim was surrounded by family and friends when the Gregory hospital/ nursing home administrator Tony Timanus presented her with an ‘Avera Lifetime Achievement Award 2021’ plaque for her 47 years of service as a registered nurse to the Avera Gregory Hospital. The plaque was presented to Grim during the annual fundraiser event held last Saturday night at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium.
