Public meeting set for water and sewer project

The regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021, at City Hall. Not his first rodeo? The bike rodeo on Saturday, June 12, was a success with about 25 kids attending, according to Police Chief Doug Catts, and everyone had lots of fun.

Alaska trip takes Anderson group to Arctic Circle

(This is the third in a series of articles chronicling Larry Anderson’s travels.) Larry Anderson and his friend Jim Selle had been on the road 14 days and covered 4500 miles through North Dakota, Montana, and Canada to reach Anchorage, Alaska, where they met up with their wives. The two couples spent the next three days exploring the Kenai Peninsula, a large peninsula jutting from the coast of southcentral Alaska, sometimes referred to as “Alaska’s Playground.” So named because of the plethora of recreational opportunities, the peninsula is a paradise for hiking, fishing, rafting, canoeing, sight seeing.

Rockin’ Ribs and Hot Rods event is huge success

It was a great night for a BBQ cook-off on Gregory’s Main Street on Saturday night. The crowd enjoyed ribs, hamburgers and listened to Uncle Roy and The Boys in the evening. The kids were also on hand with Jenny Hansen to perform their gymnastic skills.

Gregory County day camp was held in Gregory on June 8

Gregory County Farmers Union hosted “Cooperation: Celebrate the Connections” day camp at the Gregory City Park on June 8, 2021. Youth spent the morning focused on learning more about the history of Farmers Union and Cooperatives through fun and engaging activities. These activities also helped the campers build strong communication and team building skills.

GHS boy’s golf team claims sixth place at state

Gregory Gorilla High School golfers competed at state on June 7th & 8th in Brookings. The boys team placed 6th overall. Pictured from l to r; Trey Murray, Eli Fogel, Jessy Jo VanDerWerff, Kade Stukel, and Kade Braun. Eli shot a 165 securing his 13th place win at state. Trey Murray placed 26th with a 171, Kade Stukel placed 53rd with a 183, and Kade Braun placed 100th with a 201. Jessy Jo shot a 196 putting her in 45th place.

Gregory’s 8U girls softball team wins two, loses one

The team has won against Burke and Chamberlain and had a loss to Butte, NE. They will travel to Winner on Wednesday, June 16, then host Butte, NE, on June 22, and Lyman on June 23.
