A Note From Cottonwood Corners

It was about four o’clock in the afternoon of May 14, 1804 when nearly four dozen carefully selected young men, their two captains and a dog pushed off in a keelboat and two pirogues to explore the unknown. Ahead of them was a vast unknown territory, bitter weather, numerous Indian tribes, and geographical challenges as well as the continuous and vexing medical challenges which they would face daily.

The Martins are returning to the Prairie View Gospel Barn

The sibling trio of Joyce, Jonathan, and Judy Martin, known as The Martins, is returning to Gregory for an encore performance at the Prairie View Gospel Barn on Friday, June 11 for a 7:00 p.m. show.

Five Gregory golfers advance to the state tournament

The Gregory High School golf team made a good showing at regions in Mitchell on May 21, and advanced five golfers to the state tournament in Brookings, June 7 and 8. The boys placed second as a team, qualifying the whole team to go to state. Pictured above, l to r, Trey Murray shot an 80 for 4th, Kade Braun placed 23rd with a 98, Jessy Jo VanDer- Werff shot a 96 to finish in 5th place for the girls team, Eli Fogel carded a 75 for 3rd place, and Kade Stukel finished in 8th with an 89.

Robin (Kerner) Cushing promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

Gregory native Robin (Kerner) Cushing was promoted by senior officials and her family to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) during a ceremony held at the USS Constitution on May 6, 2021. Her parents, Vernon and Charlotte Kerner, were in attendance and were the ones to place the new Army rank on Cushing’s Army Service Uniform during her promotion. Cushing recognized her mom and dad for their support during her military service, and commented on their Midwestern grit that kept her going when the mission got tough on deployments.

Group working to get Gregory view back on KELO-LAND news

by Patty Connealy Most people would agree that the view from the top of the buttes in Gregory is a spectacular one. At one time, not too long ago, that stunning vista was shared from time to time on KELO-LAND news during the weather segment via a video camera placed up there.
