Fire department has a busy week

The Gregory Fire Department had several fires to deal with over the past several days. First, they managed a fire that they started themselves to demolish the Gregory Livestock Auction on Saturday. Then on Monday morning, they responded to a fire at the home of David and Ann Fogel when the fan motor of their furnace caught fire; most of the damage there was limited to smoke damage. Later Monday afternoon, strong winds again fanned some smoldering leaves into a fire at the tree dump. About one acre was burned during the three-and-a-half hours it took to extinguish it. Fire Chief Joel Bartling commented that we really need rain. See page 4 for more sale barn photos. (Sale Barn photos courtesy of Jim Birkel)
